Panda Conservation

So everyone loves a panda. Here are some of China's top conservationists introducing panda cubs to the wild, in costumes.

Kind of reminds me of this...

The Royal Mint: 2011 Coin

DesignStudio have been commissioned to design the 2011 £2 coin for the Royal Mint. Celebrating the 400th anniversary of the first widely distributed bible, the King James bible.

DesignStudio have embossed the quote 'In the beginning was the Word' from John 1:1. A very clever design which commends the tradition of the printing process, and in an almost book-like fashion the quote is mirrored in raised and recessed repeat, could visually be folded upon itself.

Ryan McGinley

Ryan McGinley. Sometimes mere words are just not enough to express your appreciation for some body's work. The colour, composition and otherworldly quality to these photos taken from 2008-present are just indescribable.

Sophie Whettnall

Sophie Whettnall's Endless Landscape is 12 metres of white pencil on black painting. Beautiful line and a contemporary take on landscape drawing.

A Room in the Glass Globe

UNION have collaborated with Hideyuki Nakayama to create this glass doorknob which allows "you to catch a glimpse of what appears to be another world, waiting for you to enter and join, but in fact is a reflection of the room on the other side of the door".

Brilliant idea, although, perhaps don't put one on the bedroom door.

I bet this lot would love it though...

Street Photography Now

The Street Photography Now Project is the brainchild of Sophie Howarth and Stephen McLaren, authors of Street Photography Now.

The idea is to give an instruction for photographers everywhere every week for a year and create a Flickr group for all the participants in order to generate new material and "inspire fresh ways of looking at and documenting the world we live in". Some of the results are simply genius.

Shane McAdams

Shane McAdams creates these beautiful drawings with just a small selection of ballpoint pens. Reminiscent of some of Wolfgang Tillman's abstract work, the finished items resemble chaotic dreamlike webs in misted hazes.

By the by, I meant to do a post about it aggeees ago, but if you didn't see the Tillmans exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery over the summer, you missed out big time. It was beautiful.

SM Found here.

Alex Roman: Encima de Todo

Silestone -- 'Above Everything Else' from Alex Roman on Vimeo.

I found this mind blowing video by Alex Roman on Public School. What you may consider to be beautifully shot film, is really astounding CGI work, the best I have ever seen.

Jacob Wolf Miller

Jacob Wolf Miller
: firstly, great name.
Secondly, lovely sculptures. The kind of things that would make your day if you came across them on a walk in the woods.

Beady Eye: Bring the Light

The remaining members of Oasis after Noel's departure have reunited to form Beady Eye, and this is their new song, Bring the Light. Harking back to Northern Soul sounds, it's seems a progression from the last Oasis album and not at all a kick-in-the-groin for Noel with copy cat sounds and nostalgic whiny lyrics, as you may have been expecting.
