YEKPARE Projection Mapping

‘YEKPARE’ (monolithic) from nerdworking on Vimeo.

Haydarpaşa Train Station is the canvas upon which Deniz Kader and Candaş Şişman have created a visual kaleidoscope of history, in connection with Istanbul being crowned European Capital of Culture 2010. The installation brings to life a 8500year history of Istanbul from the Pagans to the present day, journeying through a million stories of the city, the evolution of which seems surprising; a never ending wonder to time and form.

It ran for just 3 days in the city, this first of which marked the 47th year the Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet Ran, and which a quote taken from the poet's novel; 'At Haydarpaşa Train Station, in the spring of 1941, it is 3 o’clock. Sun, exhaustion and rush lay on the stairs...' the installation ends.
